- It is recommended to install both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions to lock down both variations of Internet Explorer.
- Windows XP 64-bit and Windows Server 2003 64-bit are not supported. The 64-bit MSI will not install in those operating systems.

Administrative template for group policy editor
- These are installed automatically when an IE URL Lock MSI package is installed.
- Windows XP and Windows Server 2003
- Windows 2000 and Windows NT
- For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008, an ADMX file gets installed by IE URL Lock versions 1.3.0.0 and newer. Microsoft's Group Policy Editor automatically adds the ADMX file to its policy hierarchy.
